FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 22, 2010

The Homestead Resort, one of Utah’s most historic and best-known all season resort in the Heber Valley, has been acquired by Legacy Resorts, LLC.

Founded in 1886 by Swiss-born Simon Schneitter, the Homestead Resort is comprised of 121 guest rooms and cottages, 17,000 square feet of meeting space, Aveda Concept spa, two restaurants, 18-hole championship golf course, and the renowned 55-foot limestone geothermal hot springs, “The Crater, “ which has become a year round scuba diving sensation with its 94° water.

Located between Park City and Sundance and 45 minutes from Salt Lake City in the Wasatch Mountains, the 155 acre resort has been a Utah favorite for over a century with its broad range of activities for all seasons and easy access to eight of Utah’s ski resorts.

The new owners plan to maintain the 125-year heritage and country charm of the property with planned enhancements including a new grand entrance, renovation of guest rooms and building structures and increased maintenance of the golf course and surrounding grounds.

Legacy Resorts now becomes the largest private employer in Heber Valley with a work force of 375 people and providing a valuable boost to the local economy. The property has been privately owned by Great Inns of the Rockies, which has run the property since 1986.

“The Homestead Resort is truly one of the West’s most unique vacation destinations with natural amenities and an engaging country spirit,” said Steve Eddington, co-manager of Legacy Resorts, LLC.  “We plan to continue the time honored tradition of the Homestead’s quality lodging, friendly atmosphere, and exciting year-round activities and amenities.”

Co-manager Dr. Robert Fuller, grandson of the Homestead’s founder added, “The family traditions of the Homestead and the culture created by Zermatt will unite for families and businesses desiring unique one-of-a-kind experiences. This is truly history in the making, continuing a Legacy.”

Legacy Resorts, LLC, recently purchased Zermatt Resort directly across the street from the Homestead in August 2010.  The two resorts will now compliment each other and realize cost efficiencies.

Zermatt Resort and Spa, is an award winning 404-room Swiss themed luxury vacation resort and conference center.  The alpine property includes Hotel der Baer, Spa at Zermatt and Wellness Center, Schneitter’s Fine Dining restaurant, Matty’s Bistro, European bakery and countless recreation activities.  The Matterhorn Conference Center offers 28,000 square feet of meeting space, 23 meeting rooms, five hospitality suites and the 13,000 square foot multi-use Bernese Event Center.

Legacy Resorts, LLC, is comprised of national and international investors with close ties to Utah who seek to create a legacy of properties that celebrate culture, tradition, and history of the communities they serve.  For more information about Legacy Resorts, LLC, visit or
